The STAAR test has a reputation for being a very rigorous assessment at each grade level. On each STAAR test, a student receives a grade that either "did not meet," "approaches," "meets," or "masters" the state's expectations. To receive a "masters" rating on a STAAR test is a great accomplishment.  

We wanted to recognize the one and only senior who "mastered" every STAAR test he ever received. Liam Shoaf mastered 18 STAAR tests over the course of his 3rd grade through 11th grade journey. Liam did not have to take any STAAR tests his 7th grade year because every student in the state was sent home due to the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak. However, we are sure he would have mastered those as well!
